Aliceann and Kemper have been spreading the love of swing dancing and music around Knoxville since 2011. We focus on the vintage swing dances of the 1920's - 1950's, including Lindy Hop, Balboa, Blues, Vernacular Solo Jazz, and more.
We run several dances here in Knoxville and dance all across the country. We are available for classes, demos, history discussions, performances, and more!

Meet Us
Aliceann Talley
Aliceann is as passionate about her students as she is about her dancing, and is constantly working on new ways to help them learn - whether through teaching weekly lessons, hosting house practices, or coaching/choreographing for her performance team. She believes learning to dance should be fun, and that you don't need to master a particular set of moves in order to become a swing dancer.
Aliceann started dancing in 2001 before eventually falling in love with swing dancing, Carolina shag, and other vernacular dances. She strives to grow swing dancing on and off the dance floor through her classes, organizing lessons in Knoxville, and her event, Hard Knox. |
Kemper Talley
Kemper has been studying and dancing Lindy Hop and Balboa for over a decade. He comes to the dance with an emphasis on the music, rhythms, and history of the swing era. His passion for teaching comes from his own lifelong obsession with learning. In the classroom, Kemper hopes to help others better express themselves by empowering them with technical rigor, skills, and an exploration mindset.
Outside of teaching, you can find Kemper behind the DJ booth, organizing events, or leading his swing band, the Jump Shop Sextet. Outside of dance, Kemper enjoys nuclear physics, augmented reality, and all things science and philosophy. |
,Kemper and Aliceann focus primarily on Lindy Hop and Balboa, but also study other swing dances such as Vernacular Jazz Dances (Charleston, Animal Dances, etc.), Solo Jazz, Slow Jazz, and Blues. Both are accomplished event DJs for swing, jazz, and blues.
They have competed and placed at competitions across the Southeast and Midwest, including the International Lindy Hop Championships, DJed countless dance events, and taught across the Southeast and Midwest, including in Knoxville, Asheville, Greenville, Clemson, Columbia, Charlotte, Cincinnati, and Richmond.
